PEDESTRIAN KILLED

STRUCK BY MOTOR TRUCK. FATALITY AT HASTINGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, June 4. A pedestrian was killed instantly when he was struck by a motor-truck in Omahu Road, Hastings, at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The victim was:— Mr William Matthews, aged 65, pensioner, Omahu Road, Hastings. The accident occurred near the Memorial Hospital. Mr Matthews was walking away from Hastings and the truck was travelling toward Hastings. The force of the collision caused damage to the front of the truck, which had to be towed away. A headlight was broken off, the radiator buckled, and the windscreen shattered.
