BAER & NOVA
INTEREST IN ELIMINATION BOUT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK, May 31’. More than usual interest has been aroused in the fifteen-round elimination boxing contest between Max Baer and Louis Nova, a fellow Canadian. The winner will probably meet the champion after the Louis-Galento fight on June 28. Nova has impressed observers with his stamina and gradual boxing improvement under Braddock’s tutelage, though he still lacks decisive punching ability or aggressiveness. Some sports commentators say Baer has not been impressive against secondrate sparring partners, and lacks sparkle and speed, though his right hand is still capable of administering drastic punishment. The consensus of opinion is that Baer must beat Nova before the sixth round, with a long fight giving Nova the advantage. Baer overshadows Nova in reach and size.
