The match between West Indies and Essex was won by the former by two wickets. Essex (first innings. 158) in the second innings compiled 194 (Avery 55; Constantine, six for 42). West' Indies, in the second innings scored 134 runs for the loss of eight wickets (Stollmeyer, 34; Headley, not out, 48. P. Smith, three for 41).
