MILITARY RESERVE
ENROLMENTS IN MASTERTON. ONLY THIRTY-EIGHT TO DATE. Enrolments made in Masterton to date in the New Zealand National Military Reserve in consequence of the appeal by the Prime Minister on Monday last total 38. Sixteen of these have been received at the Masterton Defence Office and 22 at the Post Office. Those at the Post Office include seven members of the staff. Many other enrolment forms are outstanding and inquiries for same are being made daily, though it must be said that the response locally so far is pretty poor. “Recruits for the Territorials are coming forward very well,” said SergtMajor C. E. Rogers, who is in charge of the Masterton Defence Office, referring to the matter this morning. He stated'that quite a number of country residents were coming forward, but town dwellers were not responding so readily.
