TRUST ELECTION
THREE RETIRING MEMBERS RETURNED MR R. PAGE FILLS SPECIAL VACANCY. DETAILS OF YESTERDAY’S FOLD. The poll taken in Masterton yesterday for the election of four members of the Trust Lands Trust resulted in the return of the three retiring members, Messrs E. G. Eton, A. O. Jones and C. E. Grey for the three ordinary vacancies and of Mr R. Page for the extraordinary vacancy. Altogether 1171 voters exercised their rights. Although there were no informal votes cast in respect to the ordinary vacancies there were as many as 39 for the extraordinary vacancy. Details of the poll are (M indicates Municipal Hall; L, Lansdowne; R, Railway; K. Kuripuni, and F, Fernridge):— Three Ordinary Vacancies.
Informal, Jy. The result of the election was announced by the returning officer, Mr W. B. Yates, at about 6.45 p.m„ threequarters of an hour after the closing of the poll. The candidates briefly expressed their thanks for the support accorded them.
