FEATHERSTON

QUEEN CARNIVAL. EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. ("Times-Age” Special;) At the euchre party and dance held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Gooding, Western Lake, on Saturday night in aid of the Gold Queen (Miss Eileen Cole) there was a large attendance and a most enjoyable time ! was spent. The following were the winners: Ladies, Mrs Wesden 1, Mrs Saba 2. Men, Mr Fuge 1, Miss William 2: Mr A. Gooding was the winner of the box of chocolates and Mr Cassidy won the quarter of lamb. A pleasant time was spent on Saturday when Mr and Mrs J. W. Fellingham held a 500 card party in aid of the Blue Queen (Miss Anne Fellington). The prize winners were: Ladies, Mrs Chas Rea 1, Mrs J. W. Holland 2. Men Mrs Charles (acting) 1, Mrs Bristow (acting) 2, The raffle was won by Miss S. Robinson. Mrs Lyford won the lucky number. Personal Items. Mr N. C. C. Shepherd, secretary of the Automobile Association, left today for Palmerston North where he will attend an executive meeting of the North Island Motor Union, which will be followed by a conference of' secretaries of North Island automobile associations. Mrs Lawson, Wellington is spending a few days in Featherston with her son Mrs H. Lawson. Mrs C. J. Carlyon has returned from a holiday spent with relatives at New Plymouth. Football Matches. In the junior football match on Saturday between Red Star and Featherston the scorers in the local team were Woodman, Fraser and Madden. In the third grade match Ray Beston and Paddy Ritchie scored for Featherston. The match between Cross Creek and Woodville played at Cross Creek was won by Cross Creek by 4 points to nil. McKenzie scored for Cross Creek. Golf Club Games. j The second round for the stableford competition will be held next Saturday and an all-day match with on Sunday.
