FARMER KILLED

DRAGGED BY HORSE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 19. As the result of being dragged at the end of a rope by a horse, Mr J. Gobble, aged about 60 years, a well-known settler of Awakeri, received injuries from which he died in the Whakatane Hospital. The accident was witnessed by neighbours. Mr Gobble was training the animal which was trailing a long rope from its neck. Apparently he went to pat the horse and his ankle became entangled in the rope. The horse bolted and dragged him for over half a mile. The rope had worked loose when neighbours reached Mr Gobbie, who was then unconscious.
