“BLYTHEWOOD” STUD
SALE OF BERKSHIRES. In the advertising columns of the “Times-Age” will be found an advertisement of an unreserved sale of the “Blythewood” Berkshire stud being held at Palmerston North on Thursday, May 25, when the offering will comprise some 80 pedigree Berkshire boars and sows, ages running from weaners to sows in farrow and boars fit for immediate' service. It will be noted from the advertisement that the offering also includes 6 imported boars and sows, which were farrowed by the imported sow, “Whipling Amelia 20th” whilst in Sydney quarantine. This imported strain will be a valuable addition to the Berkshire breed in New Zealand, as they are descendants of some of the best prize winning carcase strains in England, and the imported sow has 1 Royal prize winning honours. Also in the offering will be found eight boars and sows by Mr Russell's imported boar from Canada, “Willow Lodge Baron,” which has given him excellent results, and they are out of the English imported sow already mentioned above. Mr Russell is only retaining three sows and one boar in his stud, with the result that the balance of his Berkshires will be for unreserved sale. This will be an unique opportunity for clients to procure imported English blood, and also results of his mating of the Canadian boar with his English imported sow. Catalogues are available, and can be had on application to the Auctioneers, Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited, Palmerston North, or to the vendor of the “Blythewood” Stud, who readily invites inspection of the Berkshires before the sale.
