WEDDINGS
4 BEGG—RAYNE. The marriage took place at the Lansdowne Presbyterian’ Church yesterday afternoon of Miss Marjorie Rayne, daughter of Mrs Rayne and the late Mr J. Rayne, of Lansdowne, Master - ton, and Mr Alexander Campbell Begg, son of Mr and Mrs James Begg, of Dunedin. The Rev John Davie officiated. The bride, who was escorted by a friend, Mr C. Hay, wore a raisin metallic brocade costume, With a hat and posy to tone, the flowers being cycla-men-coloured chrysanthemums and spider lilies. The bridesmaid, Miss Mabel Jackson (Wellington') was attired in a frock of midnight blue embossed crepe-de-chine and carried a posy of chrysanthemums and autumn -tinted leaves to tone. The best man was Mr Fergus Begg, brother of the bridegroom.
The reception was held at the residence of the bride’s mother, 43 Te Ore Ore Road. Mrs Rayne, who wore a brown ensemble, assisted by Mrs Begg, attired in a blue costume, received the guests. The bride’s going-away dress was a tailored green costume, with hat to match and green accessories. Mr and Mrs Begg will reside at Bendigo Station, Cromwell, Central Otago. STEPHENS—KEEDWELL. At St Luke’s Church, Greytown, on Wednesday, Phyllis Mary, youngest daughter of the late Mr S. Keedwell and Mrs A. M. Keedwell, of Greytown, was married to Harry Vernon, youngest son of the late Mr J. G. Stephens, of Tockington, England, and the late Mrs E. J. Stephens, of Battersea. The officiating minister was Canon J. H. Sykes, of Greytown, while Miss Sykes presided at the organ,/ The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr C. S. Keedwell, of Levin, was attired in a dainty frock of delphinium blue silk moracain embossed with sprays of lavender pansies. A navy velour hat and shoes to match, and bouquet of lemon coloured chrysanthemums, blue delphiniums and maiden hair fern completed her ensemble. She was attendee? by her niece, Miss Barbara Noble ,of Christchurch, her frock being bronze Canadian silk with embossed gold lacing and London tan hat and shoes. She carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. Mr L. G. Humphries, of Greytown (nephew of the bride) acted as - best man. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride’s mother. Mr and Mrs H. V. Stephens left later by car for the north, the bride wearing a brown flecked tweed costume, brown hat and brown fur, with accessories to match. The bouquets were made by Mrs B. H. Bull, of Masterton, and the church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride.
