Webb, who has just returned from a holiday in Sydney, is paying a visit to Martinborough, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. J. Martin. Mrs J. R. Matthews and Mrs C. M. Watt, of “Ratanui,” gave a combined “shoe-tree and coathanger” afternoon on Thursday to their cousin, Miss Betty Roydhouse, of Carterton, who is to be married shortly. There was a large attendance of friends at the home of Mrs Matthews, where the party was held, and the time passed most pleasantly. “Quotation” competition was won by Miss Roydhouse. After a delightful afternoon tea, Miss Roydhouse opened the numerous parcels and suitably thanked the donors. At their meeting at Eketahuna this week the members of the Eketahuna Croquet Club entertained Mrs Macky who will snortly leave the district. Mrs Carter, in making the presentation of a beautiful brown zipp-fastener hand bag to Mrs Macky, regretted the departure of Mrs Macky, who had always been a good and helpful member of the club. On behalf of the cl|fb members she wished her every success in her new home. Mrs Macky suitably replied and referred to the very happy times she had spent on the lawns, and said she was really delighted With the gift from her fellow members.
