KNOX SUNDAY SCHOOL

LADIES GUILD SCHEME. TO HELP THE BUILDING FUND. For the next few months the Knox Ladies’ Guild will hold monthly social evenings instead of the usual afternoon meetings. These will be open to both men and women, and it is hoped that by making a small charge for admission, the building fund will benefit to some considerable extent. The first of these gatherings was held last Wednesday in the Primary Department. A very happy atmosphere prevailed and the gathering proved very successful, socially as well as financially. Mr J. D. Ross, who apologised for the absence of Rev J. Davie, welcomed those present on behalf of the managers of the church, while Mrs G. W. Morice spoke on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild.

The following gave items during the evening: Mr I. Hill (violin), Mr Wilson ('cello, accompanied by Mrs Morton), Mrs Kerry and Mr Clements (songs). A play reading was given in which thq following took part: —Misses E. Edward and B .Hare, Messrs Graham, Joseph and Munn. A competition was won by Mrs Ross. Supper was served by members of the Ladies’ Guild.

At the conclusion of the evening the president of the Guild (Mrs G. W. Morice) thanked those who had contributed to the programme and all others who had given their assistance in arranging the evening.
