TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
MONTHLY MEETING HELD YESTERDAY. There was a splendid attendance at the monthly meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild held yesterday afternoon in the Y.M.C.A. Hall. Mrs W. J. Judd presided and welcomed the many new members. She referred to the recent death of Mrs Elmsly and asked members to stand in silence as a mark of respect to a late foundation member. < Mrs Shortland gave an interesting and vivid description of a holiday spent in Honolulu. She described the charms of trips to several places of interest on the islands. Mrs W. H. Snowsill delighted the members with a vocal number. An impromptu debate among four members of the drama circle caused much merriment. Mrs P. Welch ably demonstrated the re-covering of eider down quilts and described the making of a noveltycounterpane. Buffet afternoon tea was served. The competitions were popular and that for a sugar bag article was won by Mrs Snowsill with Mrs Coe second and that for pikelets was won by Mrs Morris with Mrs Snowsill second. The singing of the “Ode” brought- the meeting to a close.
