POOR SHOOTING CONDITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Shooters did not fare very well in this district at the opening of the season. Although swans and ducks were fairly plentiful conditions were not favourable for good bags. There were several sportsmen who did not even fire a shot and others resorted to picking mushrooms rather than wait in vain for a shot. ' Personal Items. Messrs W. and D. Didsbury, Wellington, were the guests of their uncle, Mr R. McDougall for the opening of the shooting season. Messrs N. Hume and lan Tilson, who have been touring the northern districts, have returned home. Mr Harold Smith, who has been attending the Dairy Factory Manager’s refresher course at Massey College, has returned home. . Mr, Mrs and Miss Hines, Trentham, were visitors here at the weekend. Golf Competitions. The weather was again ideal for golf on Saturday, consequently there was a large attendance of members. The second round for the William Hume Cup was played, and the best card for the day was handed in by B. McMaster, who recorded a brilliant round of 75, a feat rarely achieved by members ol the, club. It was unfortunate that McMaster did not register a lower score as his card was marred by a 6 at the third and again at the sixth. The position for the cup with next Saturday being the final day is that W. T. Hume and B. McMaster are level with three others only a point behind. The following were the result of play: —B. McMaster, 75, 8, 67; M. Waiwera, 93, 22, 71; M. Herangi, 90, 18, 72; J. Riwai, 87, 15, 72: G. Munro, 85, 12, 73; T. Hume, 88, 15, 73; J. Carter, 94, 20, 74; K. Waiwera, 98, 21, 77; G.
