MARTINBOROUGH

FIRST BALL OF SEASON. OLD PUPILS RE-UNION. ("Times-Age” Special.) The first ball of the season in the Town Hall last evening proved a great success. It was held under the capable supervision of a committee of old pupils and school workers. The hall was decorated in a very gay and modernistic design, the shades and grills in cream, green and red parchment and’ the stage being ornamented with large colourful daisies and lilies. The supper tables were beautifully decorated with flowers. The music was supplied by Udy’s and Te Tau’s orchestras and an exhibition tap dance was given by Miss June Lynch. The lucky number waltz was won by Mr Cyril McCardle and partner and the Monte Carlo by Mr Arthur Hoare and partner. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs A. Wilkie accompanied by Mr and Mrs Lyford, of Greytown, have left on a motor tour of the north.. Miss K. Laeger, of Wellington, was a visitor to Martinborough during the weekend. Mr and Mrs George Simpson are spending the school holidays at Marlon. Miss Jean Arkle, of Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs Stan Davidson. Mr Anderson, of Maungataroto, who has been the guest of his brother, Mr Anderson, Oxford Street, has returned home. Miss Betty Grant, of Wellington, is the guest of her grandmother, Mrs Hibberd.
