GREYTOWN
FIRE BRIGADE MEETING. LONG SERVICE BARS APPLIED FOR. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown Volunteer Fire Brigade was held last night. Superintendent J. Wood presided over a full attendance of. members. The secretary was instructed to forward a service record to the Dannevirke Brigade for Fireman W. S. Dunn. An invitation was received to the Silverstream reunion. Long service bars were applied for by Deputy W. Wood and secretary H. G. Carter. The secretary reported that the Power Board would install the siren on the station this month. Personal. The many friends of Mr G. R. Jury, of Papawai, will regret to hear that he has had the misfortune to fracture his right arm. Basketball There are now two basketball teams in Greytown. A new one has been formed by the staff of the Grey town Hospital. OBITUARY. MR W. HODGE. The death occurred in the Greytown Hospital on Sunday of Mr W. Hodge, Port Chalmers, a veteran of the South African War, As a. member of the Hotchkiss Battery, Mr Hodge left for the South African War with the Second Contingent of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles. Before leaving the Dominion on January 20, 1900, by the steamer Waiwera, the Second Contingent was encamped at Newtown Park, Wellington. Mr Hodge was also a member of the Port Chalmers Naval Volunteers. He is survived by a grown-up family of six sons and four daughters. His wife predeceased him. The funeral will take place in Greytown today,
