Fellingham again placed her home at the disposal of the "Blue" Queen's committee, when a euchre party was held on Saturday night for their queen, Miss Anne Fellingham. The first prize was won by Mr J. Rewai (sucking pig) and the second by Miss Marjorie Baker (quarter of lamb) and third by Mr Albert Jury (quarter of lamb). Mr J. E. Fellingham kindly donated the sucking pig, and Miss Bessie Donald the lamb. The serving of a dainty supper brought a very enjoyable evening to a close, all present joining in voicing their praise to the hostess and to the donors of the prizes. A competition held during the evening for a box of chocolates was won by S. Robinson. Duck Shooting. Brilliant sunshine prevailed for the opening of the duck shooting season, and although enjoyed by most residents was not so far as the sportsmen were concerned, the latter - rather hop • ing for a southerly. There was, however, a light northerly wind blowing, which helped matters a little. From reports to date no exceptional bags have been secured. It is rumoured that there will be a closed season for the next two years, so sportsman will have to make the most of their opportunities this season. Hockey. The newly formed Featherston junior hockey team journeyed to Masterton on Saturday where they played their first game against the Excelsior juniors. Although defeated by 8 goals to 2 they put up a good showing and are to be congratulated upon their effort. It will be remembered that the Excelsior juniors have carried off championship honours for several seasons past, so the local girls, considering no member of the team has played before, did exceptionally well to score two goals against them. Football. There was a fair attendance at the Recreation Ground on Saturday when the local team met and were defeated by the Martinborough junior team, the score being 15 to 3. ( The game, which was noted for its cleanness throughout, was in the capable hands of referee H. Spooner, of Carterton. With more practice in scrum formation and more knowledge in using their backs, Featherston should be a much improved team. GOLF MATCH. FEATHERSTON BEAT TUI GLEN.
