EMPIRE FURNITURE

* LONDON EMBASSY DINNER. When their Majesties dined with President Lebrun at the French Embassy in London they sat around a magnificent Empire Table and their feet rested on a carpet which was specially woven for Napoleon I. This carpet was ordered by the Emperor for the Palace of the Tuileries. On the table were a set of gilded bronze ornaments presented by Napoleon to one of his generals. This table centre and other Empire pieces of furniture sent from Paris for the Embassy dinner came from the Marmettan Museum, famous for its incomparable collection of Empire furniture and works of art of that period.
