DOG TRIALS
MASTERTCN CLUB’S MEETING CONSIDERED. \ WINNERS OF TROPHIES. The huntaway events, which were decided yesterday, concluded the Masterton Collie Club’s annual trials, held on Mr George Shaw's property, Te Ore Ore. Perfect conditions prevailed and competition was very keen in the open event. Results are: Open huntaway: C. J. Macdonald’s Highland Laddie,. 431- points, 1; G. Kerr's (Weber), Mac, 43 points, 2; G. Speedy's (Tinui), Flo, 42£ pints, 3; H. Herbert’s (Pongaroa). Toss, 41 points, 4; R. D. Cameron's (Masterton), Jim, 38J points, 5. Maiden huntaway: G. Speedy’s Flo, 42i points, .1; F. Jenning’s (Greytown), Jean, 32$ points, 2; C. McKay’s (Gladstone), Mac, 32 points, 3; G. Thomson’s (Masterton), Defaulter, 314 points, 4. The cups and special trophies were won as follows: — J. M. James Cup: J. F. Wilsher, Eketahuna. , T. A. Jennings Cup: J. Wilton, Masterton. M. J. Wilton Cup: C. J. Macdonald, Masterton (won cutright). L. S. Nicol Cup: M. J. Wilton. G. Thomson Cup; C. J. Macdonald. Laing Memorial Cup: G. Speedy, Tinui. Thomson Cup (two-dog team): C. J. Macdonald. Ladies' bracelet: Mrs C. J. Macdonald. Thomas-McGuinness special: G Speedy. R. Liverton Special: G. Thomson. J. M. James special: K. A. Wilton. ■ G. Shaw special (class I.): J. McGuinness. G. Shaw special (class III.): G. Speedy. Much of the credit for the success Jof the meeting was due to the work of the energetic secretary, Mr C. J. McDonald, who had all the detail arrangements well in hand.
