The ribbon of “The Three Orders,” the highest Portuguese distinction, has been conferred upon his Majesty King George in “testimony of the centuries of British and Portuguese friendship, the sentiments of the Portuguese for the British people and Sovereign, and the solidarity of the ancient alliance.”
