Loan and Mercantile Agency Co Ltd report: At our weekly sale yesterday we submitted a fair number of pens of lambs and ewes to a good attendance, prices ruling at par with late rates. Prices ruled as follow: Woolly wr lambs, 9s sd; small do, 6s 9d; sh wr lambs, 9s 4d; small do, 7s 3d to 7s 9d; b.f. lambs, 7s to 10s 2d to Us; m.a. ir.w.R.r., Ils; 2-th wefhers, 14s sd. ■V . ' PAHIATUA CATTLE FAIR. STEERS SELL WELL. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co Ltd report: At our first autumn cattle fair held yesterday, we submitted 600 odd head of all classes to- a large attendance. Buyers were present from all surrounding districts and great interest was taken in the sale. The yarding throughout was a most attractive one, the cattle generally showing little or no signs of the dry weather. Many pens of grown cattle were yarded but the sale for these was most disappointing. In comparison, 2|yr and llyr steers sold well. Female cattle also sold well compared with the male section, whilst the fat section, reflecting the effect of a plentiful supply met with a dull sale. The bullock pens comprised cattle in good forward condition, with prices ruling from £5 10s'to £6 14s; 2|yr steers averaged through the sale from £4 to £4 10s, whilst 18-mos steers made to £3 ss. The best fat cows in oui* yarding were sold out at £5 15s With plainer sorts to £4. In the store section, cows carrying condition made to £3. Prices ruled as follows: Bullocks: A/c A. H. Ahrens, P.A. bullocks £6 14s to £5 10s; a/c Balfour Estate. dehorned Hereford bullocks, £5 2s; a/c J. R. Nelson, P.A. bullocks, £5 9s’; a/c E. J. McLean, do, £6 10s; a/c A.’ and W.
