DRAMA LEAGUE

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. ARRANGEMENTS FOR FESTIVAL AND SCHOOL. A meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Drama League was held last evening. There was a full attendance. Miss O. R. Sutherland was appointed chairman for the ensuing year. The date of the annual Drama Festival was fixed tentatively for July 19 and 20, provisionally on the judge selected being able to attend on those days. Very encouraging reports were received as to the possible entries for the festival, particularly in the junior section. It is hoped that groups will be taking part in the festival from Martinborough, Greytown and Carterton. There was an extended discussion regarding arrangements for the proposed drama school to be held from June 14 to 17. The school will be free to financial members of the league. Under the new constitution the Drama League has individual members at 2s 6d per year. This fee, besides giving the privileges of Drama League membership, will this year entitle members, to free attendance at the drama school. It is hoped that during the school two 'or three plays will be produced by the tutors, with a public performance at the conclusion of the school.

Mrs Max Cleghorn was appointed delegate to the New Zealand Council meeting to be held in Wellington next Saturday.
