The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Public Works, will return to Wellington. today from the South Island. Mr H. S. Beaumont, the new business supervisor for the A.M.P. Society, is on an official visit to Masterton. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minitser of Industries and Commerce, will return to Wellington from Christchurch today. ■ The death has occurred of Mi' Charles Philip Smith, aged 65. a wellknown sawmiller and farmer, says a Taumarunui Press Association message. He was a brother of Mr R. W. Smith, former member of Parliament for Waimarino. Mr L. Siegel, manager' of Macduff's Ltd, Masterton, who is leaving for Sydney. was farewelled by the stall last evening, when a picture parly was held, followed by a buffet suppeT. Mr Siegel was presented with a fountain pen as a parting gift. The Rev. F. R. Inwood, who arrived as a child on one of the "first four ships” which brought the original Canterbury settlers, is dead, says a Christchurch Press Association message. He was for many years vicar of Nqw Brighton, and later of Cashmere. The death occurred at Wellington on April 24, of Mr Finlay lan Mac Lean, eldest son of the late Mrs A. G. MacLean. of Greytown, and son-in-law of Mr and Mrs A. Taggart, late of Matahiwi, Masterton. and now of Fitzhcrbert Street, Petone. The deceased, who was 37 years of age. leaves a widow and three young children.
