MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN’S DIVISION. ANNUAL MEETING. ("Times-Age” -Special.) Miss G. Hecklei’ presided over a large attendance at the annual meeting. of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union held in the Mauriceville Hall on Friday afternoon. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Miss G. Heckler (re-elected unanimously); secretary, Miss E. Dagg; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. Milner and A. Forsberg; advisory members,. Mrs A. Larson and Mrs W. Cheetham. Mrs S. Jermy, secretary of the library, presented the financial statement. Miss G. Heckler, In her report, thanked members for their work and co-operation during the year. She presented Mesdames R. Judd and M. Strange, life members, with bouquets, and shoulder sprays to Mesdames Milner, Freeman, Forsberg, Brunton and Jermy. Mrs D. Brunton, in a happy little speech, asked the popular president to accept a beautiful handbag as a mark of appreciation and esteem from the members. Miss Heckler feelingly replied. Mrs J. Duncan presented Miss E. Dagg with a gift. The competitions resulted as follows: —Wandering shilling, Mrs J. L. Heckler; one-egg cake, Mrs J. Baine; cut bloom, Mrs D. Brunton 1, Mrs J. Milner 2; posy made in sand, Mrs H. Freeman 1, Mrs P. E. Mortenson 2; guessing competition, Mrs W. Cheetham 1; points prize, Mrs C. R. Judd. The prizes were donated by Mesdames Judd, Strang and Hansell’s Laboratory. It was a happy crowd who sat down to afternoon tea at the conclusion of the meeting. CROQUET. CLOSING OF SEASON. The Mauriceville Croquet Club experienced ideal weather for the closing of the season on Thursday afternoon. A number of visitors were present and all spent a very enjoyable time. At the conclusion of afternoon tea the president (Mrs J. McKeown) presented the trophies won during the year as follows:—Championship singles, Mrs H. Freeman; runner-up, Mrs McKeown (Mrs Schcrf’s trophy). Handicap singles (Miss G. Heckler’s trophy), Handicap doubles, Mrs Trass and Mrs Mrs Freeman; runner-up, Mrs Trass. McKeown. Points prize for the year (Mrs Thompson’s trophy), Mrs McKeown; runner-up (Mr A. Meyers’s trophy), Mrs Freeman. Consolation (prize donated by Mrs McKeown), Mrs Palmer.
