MASTERTON SAVAGE CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. In the unavoidable absence of Chief E. J. Jenkins, who is> at present an inmate of the Glenwood Hospital as the result of a very painful accident to his hand, Immediate Past Chief J. A. Kennedy occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Masterton Savage Club held in the Savage Club rooms on Saturday night. A large attendance of members followed proceedings with great interest which augurs exceedingly well for the success of the club this year. Apologies for absence were received from Savages Kerry, Barber and Cave. Before proceeding with the election of officers full discussion was made on the alteration of several of the club’s rules which, so altered, make for the greater benefit of club members. The Chief Scribe’s annual report and balance sheet, which had previously been in the hands of all members and had been published in the “TimesAge,” was adopted. The election of officers for the en • suing season resulted as follows:— Chief, D. A. Pickering; Deputy Chief V. Wilton; Chief Scribe, T. E. Handcock; hon auditor, F. A. R. Wesney; musical director, C. W. Kerry; Council Savages N. Fleming, F. Price, S. Barber, F. F. Wilson, J. A. Kennedy, J. Connell and W. G. Perry. It was decided that it was a fitting thing to do that the club should pursue a forward policy publicity and reports of all Koreros should be supplied to the local paper. The date of opening Korero was fixed for Saturday, May 6.

On the motion of Chief D. A. Pickering club members passed a hearty vote of thanks to the hon auditor and musical director for their unstinted service over the past season and expressed the hope that by next year’s annual meeting there will be a large increase of membership.
