MARTINBOROUGH

ST ANDREW’S CHURCH. ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual general meeting of St Andrew's Church was held in the Parish Hall on Monday evening last. The Vicar, the Rev F. O. Ball, presided over an attendance of approximately 30 parishioners. The balance sheet showed that the year had commenced with a credit balance of £72 and that the credit at the end of the year was £32. During the year no fewer than 25 loyal parishioners departed from this district. This was a distinct loss to the parish and naturally the revenue declined accordingly. The vestry intends to appeal to those parishioners who are not at present contributing, for their assistance to make up the deficiency.

In his report the Vicar reported on the . various activities during the year and expressed appreciation t'o all those who had so willingly given their assistance. He stated that he had been most encouraged by the increased congregations at the services during the past few months, and he sincerely hoped parishioners would continue to attend as regularly throughout the coming year. Officers were elected as follows: — Vicar’s Warden, Mr W. B. Martin: People’s Warden, Mr W. O. Hewetson; Vestry, Messrs J. G. Mahood. E. Clarke, N H. Thomas, G. W. B. Hardy, F. B. Wright, E. C. Sadd, J. Pike, O. Grant; Hon Auditor, Mr A. O. Pike. Farewell Gathering. Members of the Radio Club and the Fire Brigade gathered at the Radio Club Rooms on Sunday afternoon to farewell one of their members, Mr Percy Lowe, who has taken a position in Lower Hutt. Mr Hewetson spoke on behalf of the Brigade, and Mr Wright for the Radio Club. Mr Lowe was presented with a fountain pen.
