MAURICEVILLE WEST
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Mauriceville District Women’s Institute held a most enjoyable dance in the Mauriceville West Hall on Thursday evening. Music was supplied by Messrs West and Hunt, extras being played by Miss M. Smith. Mr I. Larsen was an efficient M.C. Novelty dances were won by Mrs Cameron, Mrs H. Nielsen, Miss M. Allison and Messrs H. Nielsen and S. Allen. School Concert. The local School Committee will hold a concert and dance in the Mauriceville West Hall on Wednesday, May 3. The concert programme will include items by present pupils and also oneact plays by ex-pupils. Patrons attending this function pre assured of a very enjoyable evening's entertainment. Pig Club Meeting. The Mauriceville Pig Club held its annual meeting recently, Mr J. Williams presiding over a good attendance of members. The annual report showed that the club had had a very successful year, and that the financial position was very satisfactory. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Chairman, Mr J. Williams; hon. secretary, Mr N. Myers; custodian, Mr H. C. Mortensen. Personal Items. Miss N. Booker, Palmerston North, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs H. Nielsen. Mrs Palmer is spending the weekend with her son at Ashhurst, and will be a guest at the Wilson —Waugh wedding at Fielding on Saturday. Mrs C. Stack, of Taumarunui, who has been staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs C. Johansen, has returned home. The friends of Miss Nola Nielsen, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Nielsen, who is an inmate of the Masterton Hospital, will be pleased to know she is progressing favourably.
