WOMEN’S HOCKEY
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Women's Hockey Association was held in the Y..M.C.A. rooms last evening. Mr W. Harding occupied the chair and there was a large attendance of delegates.
The members stood in silence in respect to the memory of the late Mr Hill, who was a vice-president of .the of the association.
The annual report and balance sheet were adopted as read. The report showed that the association had enjoyed a very successful season, and members looked forward to an even busier one this year. Special mention was made to the splendid work of the secretary, Miss P. Andrews.
The balance sheet showed that financially the association was in a very satisfactory position.
Speaking to the report and balance sheet, the chairman congratulated the association on having such a capable secretary as Miss Andrews, and he very much regretted that Miss Andrews would not be further available.
The new club at Featherston wrote' asking for application to the association, and entering a junior team. The colours applied for, “red,” were approved.
The College Old Girls Club was' also granted affiliation and entered one junior team, blue and gold being the colours approved of. 1 Other nominations of teams received were: Excelsior, senior and junior; Kia Ora, two seniors; Kiwi, one senior; Carterton, senior and junior; College, one senior and probably four junior. Further nomination will be received up till April 26. It was decided to open the season on May 6, when the championship games will commence. A donation of £1 Is was donated to the Women’s Division of St John Ambulance Brigade. The Excelsior Club was granted permission to play a Wanganui team on April 29 in Masterton. A ballot supported the motion that the association revert to the three selectors for each grade for the coming season.
A request from the Carterton Club that they would like both senior and junior teams to travel together where possible was received. The Ore Ore Club applied for reinstatement from Senior to Junior. The request was withheld until the names of the players nad been submitted to the classification committee. Miss O. Mills was granted a transfer from the Kia Ora Club to the Excelsior Club. It was decided that management committee meetings be held in Masterton and Carterton, alternately, the first meeting to be held in Masterton on May 1. • The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr J. Robertson, M.P., president, Mr W. Harding: vicepresidents, Messrs C. N. Cole, N. Raynor, C. Spiers, G. W. Morice, G. Allan, H. Playle, G. G. Hancox, E. G. Wing, T. G. Hardie and C. K. Goodin; secretary and treasurer, Miss Andrews (pro tern); recording secretary, Mrs K. Te Tau; hon auditor, Mr E. Evans; postponement committee, Messrs Noble and Harding; protest committee. Messrs J. Fisher, H. Simmonds, F. Bliss; tournament committee, Messrs F. Lambert, J. Rutherford, A. Southy; selectors, Senior, Messrs F. Madsen, C. £/piers, F. Phillips; junior, Messrs T. Hanley, F. Lambert and Mrs Te Tau; classification committee, Messrs W. Harding. G. Morice and Mrs Te Tau.
