ELECTRIC POWER
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD — FURTHER RETICULATION PLANNED. DEMONSTRATOR PROPOSED. | The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board held in Carterton yesterday was presided over by Mr A. Campbell Pearce, and there were also present Messrs S. Dalgleish, W. A. Tate, M. B. Tate, J. W. Colquhoun, H. P. Hugo, ana F. C. Daniell. The net revenue received for March, 1939, amounted to £4234 2s sd. Accounts to the total of £10,721 18s Id were passed. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Dalgleish, it was decided that in accordance with notice given to issue a special order authorising the borrowing of £25,000 to carry out the further reticulation of the Wairarapa Electric Power District. It was decided to complete the guarantee agreement with Mr Speedy of Ahiaruhe.
A number of hire purchase agreements concerning vacuum cleaners, electric ranges, etc., were confirmed by the board. A letter was received from the Cen-tral-Waikato Electric Power Board regarding import restrictions, It was resolved that the Wairarapa Board was in sympathy with the points raised. The question of a lady electric cookei demonstrator was mentioned, and it was decided to go further into the question. It was pointed out that up to the present time the board had installed 278 electric ranges, 27 during the past, month. That alone, it was stated, warranted the services of a lady demonstrator.
The engineer reported that during the month of March, the connected load was increased by 423 k.w., and included 216 light points, 159 heat points, 2/ ranges, 19 water heaters and 70 motors.
