MASTERTON'CLUB GAMES. GOOD CARDS RETURNED. (By “Handicapper.”) The Lansdowne links were well patronised on Saturday when the first round of the net aggregate v/as played, good cards being returned. The results of the first round and the best medal cards were:— A grade: W. A. Todd, 69; L. Kibblewhite, 70: H. F. Coom, 72; N. H. James, 73; H. L. Esau, 73; N. Moore, 74; G. Brown. 74. B grade: H. Nitz, 70; J. G. Bee, 71; L. T. Daniell, 75; J. H. Cunningham, .75; Dr. Prior. 76; W. J. Rew, 77. The greens were very hard and tricky and made playing conditions difficult. Under the conditions, however, it was pleasing to see so many players shooting to the par of the course. The winner. W. A. Todd, put up a great performance and will have his handicap reduced as a result. At present he provides tough opposition. The runner-up, L. Kibblewhite, who returned a net 70, will no longer remain on his present handicap as his form justifies a reduction. It was pleasing to see H. L. Esau, on the 1 mark, shooting to his handicap, while Father Moore reaped the reward oi constant practice. H. Nitz, a very keen member, scored a popular win in the B grade and or. his present form more should be heard of him during the season. J. H. Cunningham, who has only taken up the game in recent years, is making good progress and is very keen on the game. W. J. Rew, a new member, is playing well up to his handicap. The first round of the President’s Trophy will be played next Saturday. The draw will be published during the week and all members who have not yet nominated are asked to ring the secretary immediately. VISIT OF AUSTRALIANS.
