EKETAHUNA

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. MEETING AT NIREAHA. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Nireaha Women’s Institute on Tuesday, Mrs Shannon presided over a good attendance of members. The motto for the day was “Have the Courage to Think Right.” Apologies were received from Mesdames Davis, Nordell and Hansen. The roll call “Three Household Hints” proved most instructive, many useful hints being given. It was decided to have a bring and buy stall for May, Mrs Hawkins to be in charge. The delegates for the annual meeting of the Bush District Federation of Women’s Institutes are Mesdames Shannon and Stewart. The competitions drew a large number of entries and resulted as follow: — Bran biscuits, Mesdames Lozell 1, Mason 2, W. Drysdale 3. Sugar , bag article, Mesdames Blewett 1, Lozell ,2, Wilkin 3. Best bloom, Mesdames Wilkin 1, W. Drysdale 2, Hawkins 3. . Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Hawkins and J. Drysdale. A competition held afterwards resulted in a draw between Mesdames P. Wilkin and W. Drysdale. Old Boys’ Football Club. At a meeting of the Eketahuna Old Boys’ Football Clublit was decided that a senior and third grade team be entered in the Bush competition. Messrs O. Stone and H. E. Rogers were appointed delegates to the Union. Nireaha Football Club. At the annual meeting of the Nireaha Football Club the following were elected officers for the coming year:—Patron, Mr Thomasen; president, Mr J. P. Petersen; vice-presidents, Messrs B. Lozell, W. Goss, J. B. O’Neil, J. Daysh, W. W. Drysdale, R. Payne, E. B. Terry, A. Golder, S. Goss, C. Hercock, W. Prvde, C. E. S. Goss and J. Spring; secretary, Mr H. Eagle; delegates to Bush Rugby Union, Messrs J. P. Petersen and H. Eagle. It was decided to enter a senior and third grade team in the competition. The club subscription was fixed at 3s for seniors and Is 6d for third grade members.
