TALLEST SOLDIER

SERVICE IN PALESTINE. “I WAS A GOOD TARGET.” The tallesct man in the British Army is said to have been “discovered” when 7ft lin high Captain P. B. Huxham Towered into the Edinburgh Sheriff’s Court to give evidence in a motoring case recently. Captain Huxham is. in the Royal Army Service Corps, and has served 12 years. He told an interviewer after his court appearance that the Army is “a great life” —even for a 7ft man. But there are one or two drewbacks. Captain Huxham does find the mechanical equipment of the modern-army, built mainly to accommodate the average sft Sin soldier, a slight handicap, but not serious, he adds. The captain’s weight is proportionate to his height—he weighs 19st 61b. t “Although my height, and weight may appear to have their disadvantages, they have their advantages,” he said. Captain Huxham was in Palestine at the beginning of the trouble with the Arabs and engaged in many skirmishes.

. “No doubt,” he said, ,“I was a dashed good target, but even if I had been double the size I don’t believe the Arabs could have hit me. I came through it all without a scratch.” Captain Huxham is the son of RearAdmiral Huxham, of Plymouth, Devon.
