QUADS IN U.S.A.

Galveston, in Texas, welcomed quadruplets on February 1. Four vigorous baby girls were born to Mrs Badgett, wife of a construction foreman. Their weight is between 3.11 b and 411 b, and they are reported to be thriving. The attending physician, Dr W. J. Jinkins, said he thought that only triplets would be born. It was a shock when the fourth baby arrived. Mrs Badgett was given a blood transfusion as a precautionary measure, and her husband stiff drinks —for the same reason. Cases of quadruplets reaching maturity are very rare in the United States. The couple have two other children aged 15 and 13—both girls. The Miles quads, at St Neots, Huntingdonshire, celebrated their third birthday last November. The New Zealand “quads” are aged four.
