TOURNEY AT DUNEDIN. ATHLETIC SHIELD TO OTAGO. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April 10. The inter-university college sports tournament was continued today, the boxing, basketball and athletics sections being completed. Otago easily won the athletic shield, scoring 22 points to Victoria’s 14, Auckland’s 11 and Canterbury’s 9. Records were established for the 220yds hurdles and the three miles, and the 400 yards hurdles record was equalled. The lawn tennis championships were advanced a further stage this afternoon when the men’s and mixed doubles events were advanced to the finals and the women’s doubles to the semifinals. Results:-—' Men’s Doubles. —Semifinal: Baird and Childs (Otago) beat Prebble and Hunter (Canterbury), 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Women’s Doubles.—First round: Misses Jones and Roscoe (Canterbury) beat Misses Roberts and McGechie (Auckland), 6-4, 8-6. Mixed Doubles.—First round: Smith and Miss Kerr (Otago) beat Allpress and Miss McGechie (Auckland), 6-4, 6-2. Semifinal: Morrison and Miss McClean (Victoria) beat Childs and Miss Elder (Otago), 6-2, 6-2. By winning its match in all three rounds, Victoria gained 4J points to win the basketball shield and gain 61 points toward the tournament shield. Auckland won two matches, and Otago one, Canterbury being outclassed in all three of its games.
