PONGAROA

RUGBY SUB-UNION. ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual-meeting of the Puketoi Rugby Sub-Union was held in the Council Chambers, Pongaroa, on Saturday evening. Mr W. T. Rautu presided, and there were also present, Messrs S. McLaren (secretary), F. Holdern, and D. Bowie, Pukehinau, H. Power and G. Thompson, Coast; S. Raleigh and R. J. Harman, Tiraumea, and J. McMillan and P. Peters, Pongaroa. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The resignation of Mr Rautu as president and sole selector was accepted with regret, and on the motion of Mr Raleigh he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his services to the subunion over the past four years. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr F. Armstrong; president, Mr P. A. Donovan; vice-presidents, Messrs C. Hunter, C. T. Richardson, R. J. Harman, D. D. Riddell, O. Olsen, W. T. Rautu, F. A. Meich, E. Knowles, C. Whitemore, and J. A. Smith; secretary, Mr S. McLaren; sole selector, Mr P. A. Donovan. Owing to the continued dry weather it was decided not to- open the season until early in May. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs V. Fuller, of Wellington, are on a visit to Mr and Mrs W. Pickett, Kohiku. Mr and Mrs R. J. Harman Senr., will leave on April 13 on a holiday visit to Australia.
