PARK TENNIS CLUB
• SUCCESSFUL SEASON. BROUGHT TO CLOSE ON SATURDAY. 1 As a fitting finale to a very successful season an enjoyable Yankee tournament was held on the Masterton Park tennis courts on Saturday afternoon. The large attendance of players enjoyed themselves under ideal tennis conditions. A Mrs L. S. Nicol provided a dainty afternoon tea, after which the trophies won during the year were presented by the president (Mr L. S. Nicol) and Mrs Nicol.
Mrs Nicol was presented with a gift by Mr C. Harkness (club captain) and a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Nicol for her splendid work on behalf of the club was carried by acclamation.
The club trophies were won as follows: —
Men’s championship singles: Mr E. Handyside. Ladies’ ’championship singles: Miss P. Hessell. Men’s handicap singles: Mr T. McGovern.
Ladies’ handicap singles: ■ Miss P. Hessell.
Men’s handicap doubles: Messrs A. Handyside and E. Handyside. Ladies’ handicap doubles: Misses P. Hessell and M. Elkins./
Combined handicap doubles: Mrs King and Mr W.' Baty. Men’s junior championship: 'Mr C. A. Greenwood;
Ladies’ junior championship: Mrs Groves.
An enjoyable dance was held in the Savage Club Rooms in the evening.
