SOME USEFUL HINTS. Try the following plan when some careless person stands one tumbler in another, and you find it difficult to separate them: Fill the inner tumbler with cold water (this will cause the glass to contract) and at the same time stand the outer one in hot water (this will make the outer glass expand). .After a few minutes it will be quite easy to separate them.
Tainted saucepans can be cleansed by boiling a cut-up lemon in them for one to two hours.
The important medicinal properties of onions and celery are are conserved by steaming those vegetable instead of boiling them.
If pastry made with lard is not cooked at once it loses its crispness.
It refreshes a room wonderfully to disinfect it with camphor. Some camphor, a shovel, and a hot poker will suffice. Stroll about the room to spread, the fumes.
Sleeplessness may sometimes be relieved by the- application, of a wet compress to the bask of the head and neck.
When, making a salad dressing, first scald the cream.
