SCHOOL CONTESTS.

FOR THE AILS A McDONALD CUPS.

(“Times-Age” Special.)

The games between Featherston and Martinborough High Schools in the Ailsa McDonald Memorial Cups competition were continued yesterday with tennis and athletic contests. The tennis was played on the local courts and the athletics were run off on the sports ground. The Featherston girls and the Martinborough boys won the tennis. In the athletic events the results were: — Girls: 100 yards, Featherston 1, Martinborough 2, Featherston 3; 220 yards, Featherston 1, Martinborough 2, Featherston 3; 75 yards, Featherston 1 and 2, Martinborough 3; skipping, Martinborough 1, Featherston 2; relay race, Featherston 1. The Featherston girls had a good win on points. Boys: 440 yards, Featherston 1 and 3, Martinborough 2; 220 yards, Martinborough 1, Featherston 2 and 3; 100 yards, Martinborough 1 and 2, Featherston 3; relay race, Featherston 1; high jump, Martinborough 1. Martinborough boys had a narrow win on points. The Featherston children were under the charge of Mr Hayes, Miss Castle and Mr Kilsby and were brought over in cars kindly lent by parents and fri&idsi < Radio Club. A very pleasant day’s outing was spent by the members of the Martinborough branch of the Amateur Radio Club and friends on Sunday at Western Lake. • . Personals. Miss Gladys Haigh, of Australia, is visiting her home at Tawaha. Mrs Terence Boyd has returned from a month’s holiday spent in Marton and Wellington. Mrs Gerald Biss has returned from visiting her home in Wanganui. Mrs B. Harle, of Lyttelton, is visiting her sister, Mrs George Willis. Mr Trevor Sweetman, of Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs R. J. Wright for a few days. Collie Dog Trials. The Collie Club trials commence tomorrow on Mr Murdoch McLeod’s property at Hillside. The judge is Mr. J. A. Gibson.
