WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS.

The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Basketball Association was hold in the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Monday evening, when Miss 0. R. Sutherland presided over a large and representative gathering.

The annual report and balance sheet, presented by the secretary, Miss R. K. Edwards, showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, both in membership and finance.

A motion was passed by the meeting regretting the recent departure from Masterton of Misses A. J. Shelton and N. Cohen, both of whom had given years of enthusiastic service to the game.

The election ,of officers resulted as follows:—President: Miss O. R. Sutherland; secretary: Mirs R. K. Edwards; treasurers: Mi:::: D, O'Donnell; committee: Misses P, Kilrninster, J. Gemmell, A. Burge:;:’., J. Snelgrove, J. Russell, P. Baskivillc- iwitli power to add from any new club formed); selection committee: Misses O. R. Sutherland, D. O'Donnell, B. Vennor. It was decided to hold the annual tournament on April 15 and to invite any clubs meditating membership to send teams to this. Play for the year will commence on April 22. A lengthy discussion took place on the question of raising finance for representative team purposes, and it was agreed to ask each player to provide 3d pci' Saturday, the money to be divided equally between the two grades. The A grade tournament will be at Invercargill and it is hoped to send a B grade representative team to a tournament at Napier. It was arranged that all teams are to nominate referees who will be willing to help on Saturday afternoon. The names of referees are to be sent to Miss B. Vennor. secretary of the Wairarapa Referees’ Association. Voles of thanks wore passed to the Press, the Principal of the Wairarapa College, the W.F.C.A. (for window display), the honorary auditor and to the organisers of the teams playing during fitness week.
