OBITUARY
MRS. BEATRICE ELLA ASHTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The many friends of Mrs Beatrice Ella Ashton widow of the late Mr. J. A. Ashton, will regret to learn of her death, which occurred suddenly at Carterton yesterday. The late Mrs Ashton, who was visiting her son-in-law, took ill suddenly and was admitted to Croydon Hospital, where she died a few hours later. She was 70 years of age and was born in the Hutt. The late Mrs Ashton was twice married, Mr Ashton predeceasing her in 1920. She is survived by five daughters, Mesdames A. Jensen, A. Archer, J. B. S. Brown, A. Conwell and W. F. Hooper, and one son, Mr. Ben Sewell, all of whom reside in Carterton. There are also 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the residence of Mr W. F. Hooper, Lincoln Road, for the Clareville Cemetery, after a service commencing at 1.15 p.m.
