Mrs W. Alexander (Wellington) was a week-end visitor to Featherston as the guest of Mr and Mrs Harry Lawson.

Mr and Mrs Arden Willis (Lower Hutt) were week-end visitors to Featherston.

Nurse Kathleen Merlet (Picton) is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs F. E. Merlet, Waite Street. Mr Walker (Sydney) scoutmaster, spent the week-end with Mr Halpin, the local scoutmaster. Both met during the recent visit of the Scouts to Australia and are'renewing acquaintance.

TENNIS MATCH.

CROSS CREEK DEFEATED.

During the weekend a tennis match was played on the local courts between the Cross Creek and Featherston clubs, Featherston winning by a substantial margin. The following are the results, Featherston players being mentioned first in each instance: —

Men’s doubles: McWilliam and McLeod lost to Wehipeiana and Stockley, 6/8; Rae and Thurston lost to Dwyer and Polglaze, 7/8; Ritchie and McNamara beat Cleary and Crack, 8/4. Ladies’ singles: Miss Tully beat Mrs Stockley, 7/2; Mrs Baker beat Mrs Clarke, 7/1; Miss Rowles beat Mrs Crack, 7/3; Miss Johns beat Miss Edlin, 7/1: Miss O. McLeod beat Mrs Seagar, 7/5; Miss Johns beat Miss Stockley, 7/2.

Ladies’ doubles: Miss Tully and Mrs Baker lost to Mesdames Stockley and Clarke, 5/7; Misses Rowles and Johns beat Mrs Crack anl Miss Edlin, 7/4. Men’s singles: McWilliam beat Wehipeiana, 9/6; McLeod beat Stockley, 9/3; Rae lost to Cleary, 3/9; McNamara beat Crack, 9/4; Thurston lost to Dwyer, 3/9; Ritchie beat Polglaze, 9/4.
