FEATHERSTON

BOY SCOUTS. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The quarterly meeting of the local Boy Scouts Committee was held on Wednesday. Those present were: Mr A. Cook (chairman), Mrs J .Halpin, Miss A. Fellingham, Miss M. Hayes, Messrs N. C. C. Shepherd (District Scout Commissioner), J. Halpin (Group Scoutmaster), P. Clark, J. W. Fellingham, W. Hodder, H. Clark and the secretary. Apologies for absence were received- from Mesdames H. Clark, Fellingham, W. Hodder, Saunders, A. W. Edwards, the Rev. J. T. Holland and Mr A. C. Pearce.

It was decided that Messrs Harkness and Hunter be added to the committee.

It was decided to accept Miss Wenden’s resignation and to thank her for the valuable services she had rendered to the Pack. The Cub and Scout reports were read and adopted. The District Scout Commissioner (Mr Shepherd) presented .warrants to Scoutmaster P. Clark ana Acting Cubmaster, Miss Fellingham. Considerable discussion took place concerning the New Zealand Jamboree which will take place during the Centennial celebrations. It is hoped that several local scouts will be able to attend the Jamboree. Equipment and arrangements for the event will be supervised by the Troop officers. It was decided to hold a function in the Town Hall next, month to augment the funds and so enable the boys who will participate in the Jamboree to be well equipped.

St. John’s Ladies’ Guild.

'The St. John’s Ladies’ Guild met yesterday in the Parish Hall. 1 Mrs H. R. Bloxam was elected president, Mrs R. Watson, secretary, and Mrs C. Edwards treasurer. Mrs J. T. Holland gave an interesting talk on London. 1 At the conclusion of the meeting afternoon tea was handed round.
