The chief clerk and deputy-registrar of industrial unions, Mr G. M. F. Jackson, has been appointed by the Government to be ■ associated with the Minister of Lands, Mr F. Langstone, as the Government delegate to the International Labour Conference to be held ,n Geneva in June next. The Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, Bishop of Wellington, is making good progress following his recent operation. His general condition is very satisfactory. It is considered advisable, however, that he snould not yet receive visitors. It is expected he will be in hospital- for about a further fortnight. At the monthly meeting of the management committee of the Masterton Methodist Home the chairman referred to the resignation of the secretarymanager (Mr A. E. Bate). After eulogising Mr Bate's work on the committee and for the children of the Hom?, Mr Handyside presented Mr Bate with a leather attache ease on behalf of the committee. Mr Bate expressed his sincere thanks for the gift and spoke of the pleasant experiences his work for the Home had brought to him.
