PROTEST AGAINST INCREASE IN CHARGES

BIC MEETING AT TINUI.

DEPUTATION TO WATT ON POSTMASTER.

At a representative meeting of rural telephone subscribers held at Tinui last evening a vigorous protest was made against any increase in the charges for rural telephones. The matter was fully ventilated, and a resolution was passed protesting against anv increase. Those present also agreed that in the event cf the charges this year exceeding those made last year they would have the telephones disconnected. A document to this effect was freely signed.

Messrs C. S. Hay and A. A. Schofield were appointed a sub-committee to confer with the committee already ret up by the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union, with a view to a deputation wailing on the Masterton Postmaster next Friday at 10.20 n.rn. The members for Masterton and Wairarapa. Messrs J. Robertson and Ben Roberts.will accompany the deputation, and the stock and station agents. Chamber of Commerce and Employers Federation have been asked to Five their support.
