LONDON QUOTATIONS NO CHANGE IN BUTTER MARKET. DECLINE IN N.Z. CHEESE PRICES. There was no change in the London butter market last week, prices remaining unchanged in a quiet market, according to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand, salted, 118 s (118 s a year ago, 119 s to 120 s); unsalted, 122 s (1225; a year ago, 122 s to 1235). Australian, salted, 117 s (115 s to 116 s); unsalted, 118 s (116 s to 117 s). Danish, 114 s f.o.b, 135 s to 136 s spot (118 s 140 s to 141 s). Dutch, unsalted, 114 s to 115 s, ex 118 s (114 s to 115 s). Polish, salted and unsalted, 115 s (114 s South Africa, 113 s to 115 s (112 s to H4s). n - The retail price of New Zealand butter last week was Is 3d and Is 2d a lb, with Danish Id lower at Is 4d. The present price of 118 s is equal to approximately 14.03 d a lb, f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 a lb; f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 6.7 d a lb, f.o.b. compared with the guaranteed price of 8.24 d.

Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1731 tons, compared with 1914 tons for the previous week, and 2350 tons a year ago. The quantity in store last Friday, including 1330 tons ex the Port Alma and Port Sydney, was 5175 tons, agdinst 4806 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 2097 tons, and the quantity in store 4949 tons, compared with 2702 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee’s estimated stocks of all butters in store last week was 765,020 boxes, compared with 475,238 boxes a year ago.

The cheese market continued slow last week, the price of New Zealand. 60s a cwr., showing a further decline of 2s on the week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those for the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: New Zealand, white and coloured. 60s (625; a year ago, 70s). The quantity in store last Friday was 73363 crates, compared with 46, (20 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 4894 boxes, and the Quantity in store 97.029 boxes, against 79,118 boxes a year ago. ’ Cheese gradings for the week ended March 11 were 20.365 crates of white and 10.655 crates of coloured, a total of 31,021 crates.
