SYDNEY SALES. ' PRICES FULLY FIRM. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. SYDNEY, March 20. At the wool sales today prices were fully firm on the closing rates of the previous Sydney series. Competition was strong from the Continent and Yorkshire, with a fair demand from Japan. Greasy merino fleece sold to 24.;d. The offering totalled 10,975 bales, of which 9770 bales were sold at auction and 1669 disposed of privately. WELLINGTON SALE. CATALOGUE FOR THURSDAY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The fourth Wellington wool sale of the 1938-39 season will be held in the Town Hall oti Thursday, starting at 8 a.m.. an hour earlier than is usual. A total of 24.323 bales will be offered. Brokers’ catalogues, in the order of sale, are as follows: — Bales. Abraham and ' Williams and Wright, Stephenson 4181 Dalgety and Co., Ltd 3371 Murray. Roberts and Co., Ltd. 3270 Levin and Co., Ltd, and Wairarapa Farmers 7005 N.Z. Loan and Mercantile . Agency Co., Ltd 3005 N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd 3491 Total 24,323 TIMARU CHEQUE. TIMARU. March 20. The total wool cheque for the second and final sale of the season in Timaru amounted to £386,589, compared with £201.767 for the opening sale of the season. The price a bale was £l2 19s 7d at the last sale, against £l2 19s 2d at the first sale. A blind man guided by his faithful shepherd dog has walked from California to New York and home again, a distance of 6000 miles.
