TABLE TENNIS

SUCCESSFUL TOURNAMENT LAST NIGHT. KOPUARANGA TEAM WINS. One of the most successful table tennis tournaments held in Masterton for some time took place in the Y.M.C.A. Halls last night in aid of the-Beautify-ing Society and Y.M.C.A. carnival funds. Excellent entries were received and play of a high standard was witnessed. The teams were divided into three sections, the winners- of which were handicapped. Cowspankers won the A grade, Borthwick's No. 3 the B grade and Kopuaranga the C grade. In the play-off Cowspankers beat Borthwick’s No. 3 and then Kopuaranga beat Cowspankers by 177 points to 173 after winning three matches each. The winner of the cake guessing competition was Mrs R. Judd. Three tied for first place, but Mrs Judd won on the draw. The greatly increased facilities now provided at the Y.M.C.A. assisted in making the tourney a great success.
