PLENTY OF WATER

FOR HOSPITAL GARDENS.

700 GALLONS AN HOUR.

“We have probably the best vegetable’ garden in Masterton,” observed the managing-secretary, Mr Norman Lee, at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. “We have been growing,” he added, “sufficient vegetables to supply not only the Masterton but also Greytown and Pahiatua Hospitals.” Mr Lee said that a number of people, had complained that the hospital could keep its hoses going all day, while private residents could not. The supply, however, was drawn from a well in the grounds, and they had been pouring 700 gallons of water an hour on the gardens for the full 24 hours.
