HADLOW SCHOOL

ANNUAL, SWIMMING SPORTS HIGH STANDARD OF EFFICIENCY. CHAMPIONSHIP AND OTHER WINNERS. The annual swimming sports of Hudlow Preparatory School, Masterton were held yesterday in the school baths. The day was beautifully fine and there was a large number of parents and friends present. The boys reached a high standard of proficiency in the swimming, diving, and life-sav-ing events. All present were' the guests of the principal. Mr A. W. Don and Mrs Don at afternoon tea. During the afternoon a presentation was made by the school to Mr W. S'. L. Dickson. Mr Don referred to the great assistance Mr Dickson had given at the school swimming and athletic sports for the past 10 years. He had always given his services willingly. Mi Dickson was presented with a handsome case of pipes. Mr Dickson, in responding, stated that it had been and always would be a pleasure to him to assist at these sports. He congratulated the swimmers on the progress they had made and the school on the splendid organisation of its sports. Mr Dickson said he hoped he would be able for many years to help carry on with the good work. The prizes were presented by Mrs Dartrey Adams, mother of the head prefect. Results were as follow: — Senior championship (Hugh Morrison Challenge Cup): M. Kight 1, J. Cameron 2, D. Cowper 3. Junior championship: P. Jury 1, O. Prior 2. 33 1-3 yards senior championship: M. Kight 1, J. Cameron 2, D. Cowper 3. 33 1-3 yards junior championship: P. Jury 1, O. Prior 2. Beginners’ race: B. Upham 1, I. Rayner 2, W. Tolhurst 3. Beginners’ dive: I. Rayner 1, T. Humphries 2, B. McGregor 3. B class dive: B. Stilborn 1, D? Adams 2, M. Atkinson 3. One length handicap: R. Nathan 1, D. Adams 2, M. Atkinson 3.
