HEAVY CASUALTIES IN CHINA. JAPANESE PLANES SHOT DOWN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.rn.) SHANGHAI, February 24. The Chinese claim that eight Japanese planes were shot down at Lanchow on February 23. Over 200 houses were demolished and there were thirty casualties. It is alleged six hundred were killed and wounded during the bombing of Ichang on February 21. The Domei News Agency claims that in the air raid on Lanchow at least fifty Chinese machines were damaged. HAINAN INVASION. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, February 24. “The Times’’ Hong Kong correspondent states that the Japanese have extended their grip on Hainan and occupied Chianglan and Wenchang. The Chinese Kwantung Provincial Government has moved from Linhsien to Shiuchow.
