AUSTRALIAN POLICY
MR MITCHELL HEPBURN IMPRESSED SIMILAR MEASURES URGED IN CANADA. DEBT CONVERSION & INTEREST CONTROL. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This-Day, 12.15 p.m.) TORONTO, February 24. On his return from Australia, Mr Mitchell Hepburn (Premier of Ontario) declared that he had brought a trunkful of progressive ideas to lay before Cabinet. He was convinced debt conversion was the only thing that could save Canada from bankruptcy. Australian economic policies, as developed by courageous leaders, were a revelation, as a result of which Ontario would undoubtedly submit a petition to Ottawa for a similar policy for Canada. *Mr Hepburn was particularly impressed by the Australian demonstration that interest rates must be reduced.
